NEW FORUM

Handpan.org is now live. We are in the process of archiving the information as best we can from this sight. At this time, you can go to www.handpan.org and register your new account to access the forum. More changes will be coming in the days and weeks ahead, so please bear with us. If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to email an Admin or post it.

The Admin team of Hang-music.com is doing all we can to make this transition as smooth as possible. Change and growth are inevitable, and it is time for us to grow now. From this new direction, we hope to keep healthy discussion alive about all the new and old Handpan related instruments of the world.

Re: NEW FORUM

So does this mean that there will be no specific heading to speak about the Hang at www.handpan.org?

Re: NEW FORUM

I was wondering that, too.  Actually seems like there should be.  I'd rather discuss all of them on one site.  Seems like now that "Hang" is no longer in the domain name, it shouldn't matter.

Re: NEW FORUM

I was thinking the same thing, too. To defuse a potentially sensitive issue, a "Hang House" could IMO be added with a subtitle like "talk about the instrument that inspired handpans". Wait, better make that "talk about the sound sculpture that inspired handpans".

Re: NEW FORUM

Does anyone else think we've got too many forums for discussion of the Hang and other related instruments?? it just seems that conversations that happen on here, happen over on other forums by the same people and then you find you have to keep flitting between the two, three, four or even five that are out there..... very time consuming and almost pointless.

I also think... and this is just my thought... second hand information about the intentions of PANart seems to cause so much friction in the community, if there is a spokesperson for PANart, someone who is in constant contact with them, then can't you get the community a clear, comcise and meaningful communication about the issues that seem to be arising of late? Why are PANart so upset by their Hang being talked about in this forum alongside other instruments if they are indeed actually truely upset by this notion?

Just seems to me that too many people are passing information around and its very confusing and disheartening sad

Re: NEW FORUM

Agreed Kelly.
I'm so sure so much of this is caused by the medium - every person I know who has met Felix and Sabine personally has reported the same thing - that they are kind, warm and very welcoming people. That the impression we receive through this particular community could be anything otherwise surely speaks more loudly about the problems with this form of communication than the humans behind PANart themselves.

Re: NEW FORUM

@Kelly & Fox,

There is a place on the new forum to discuss Hang stuff. We just did not label it Hang House or what not.

As to assumptions people may have about F & S...... myself, I have not met them. I have heard from some that have worked closely with them in the past that perhaps there are personality issues. My thought is, people make hundreds of fleeting visits every year. First impressions speak volumes. But just as anyone has to put on their "work face" for the public, you will only learn a small amount of a person, in that small amount of time.

There are some that may know F & S beyond this colloquial, and well practiced visiting phase. And perhaps know a little bit more than what the average visitor sees. Myself, I have no problem breaking bread or conversating with anyone. But what I think has been discussed goes a bit deeper than colloquial banter. There is a certain philosophical shift that has been recognized by some. And perhaps most are tactful enough to leave it be. But I'm not one to call anyone out on being a vegetarian. However, that is not what is being discussed.

And yes, I do believe that this medium may perpetuate some disinformation..... but I also think that most feel uncomfortable discussing such unsavory topics.

How real is real? As in "keep it real"? We are all subject to darkness. I've even discussed some of my own here at times. So, do we keep it politely real? Or do we push the envelope sometimes to have deeper discussions beyond what we may find as ideally safe?

The new forum was born out of necessity. Both for the structure and function of the forum, and also to placate certain requests from the Hang House. Are there too many forums? I think so. But if it makes certain entities more comfortable with the direction of the conversations we have here, then so be it.

This site will eventually be archived. Posts will no longer be allowed, but hopefully the information will still be available to peruse. This transition is temporary. But necessary. In essence, we are not creating another forum, just reforming the old. So with that said, if it becomes a bit cumbersome to go through yet another forum, then by all means, know that it is not a requirement to register with the new forum. we are just trying to adjust for the times.

Peace.
